Internet connectionNeeded to activate and periodically validate your license. The app keeps working offline for up to 7 days between checks. Document conversion itself never uses the network.
Adobe InDesignNot required to run the app. You only need the InDesign document (.indd) together with its Links folder.
Supported INDD versionsDocuments saved by InDesign 8.0 (CS6) through 21.6. Files from newer InDesign releases may need to be saved down to a supported version first.
Microsoft WordNot required for conversion. To open the result, use Word 2016 or later, Pages, or Google Docs.
Install
Four steps from download to first conversion

Download the installer
Get the disk image (.dmg) from the Download button. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so macOS can verify it on first launch. - 02
Move the app to Applications
Open the .dmg and drag INDD Converter into the Applications folder. Then eject the disk image. - 03
Launch it for the first time
Open INDD Converter from Applications or Spotlight. If macOS shows a security prompt, choose Open — the app is notarized and the prompt appears only once. - 04
Start the trial or enter your key
The 14-day trial starts automatically. Bought a plan? Paste the license key from the license portal into the Activate window to unlock unlimited pages.
Activation
Trial, Pro and Team licenses
License keys are never emailed. Sign in to the license portal with your purchase email to get your key and manage your devices.
Pro plan
Sign in to the license portal to copy your key, then enter it in the app. One Pro key activates up to 2 Macs.
Team plan
Each seat gets its own key from the team admin dashboard. Admins can release a device or reassign a seat without contacting support.
Replacing a Mac
Release the old device in the license portal, then activate the new one with the same key. No extra purchase is needed.
Network & privacy
Online only for your license, never for your documents.
Conversion runs 100% locally. The app contacts our license server only to activate, validate and check for updates, and it keeps working offline for up to 7 days between checks. INDD files, images and DOCX output never leave your Mac.
Troubleshooting
Common setup questions
macOS says the app cannot be opened or is from an unidentified developer.
Make sure you downloaded the installer from this website. Right-click (or Control-click) INDD Converter in Applications and choose Open, then confirm. If the app was quarantined by another download tool, delete it and download it again from the Download button.
My license key is not accepted.
Copy the key from the license portal rather than typing it, and check that the Mac is online for the first activation. If the key was issued for a different email, sign in to the portal with the email used at purchase. Still stuck? Email robin@docsheim.com with the key's last four characters.
The app says the device limit is reached.
A Pro key activates up to 2 Macs and each Team seat activates one Mac. Open the license portal, release a device you no longer use, and activate again.
Images are missing or low resolution in the DOCX.
Keep the document's Links folder next to the INDD file. The converter reads the original PSD, AI, TIFF and PNG assets from that folder; without it, only the preview images embedded in the INDD are available.
How do I update to a new version?
Download the latest installer from this page and drag it over the existing app in Applications. Your license and settings are kept; there is no need to re-activate.
How do I uninstall?
Drag INDD Converter from Applications to the Trash. If you are moving to another Mac, release this device in the license portal first so the activation slot is freed.
